Cottage Grove

Cottage Grove is an Eden Alternative residence for seniors which provides Assisted Living, Dementia care. It is made up of 4 ranch-style houses, each with 12 private bedrooms/full baths. The houses are connected by a large backyard patio. We are committed to building a 'human habitat' that is full of life. Residents plant and tend our gardens and pursue meaningful roles. We have adopted pets and we welcome visits from children and teens. We encourage outreach to the neighborhood and involvement in the greater community so that our elders sustain a vital civic role.

Each Cottage Grove residence is considered a family made up of residents and staff. It is our intent to bring decision making to the residents and staff members of each home. These intimate households assure a greater emphasis on individuals and on choice, and foster the growth of personal relationships. Ultimately, our purpose is to reach each individual and assist him or her in leading a meaningful life with as much independence and freedom as possible.

Volunteers Needed

Chorus: sing with elders and possibly present a recital; meet 2 to 4 times a month.
Men’s group: socialize with gentlemen; meet 2 to 4 times a month,
Cooking club: prepare favorite recipes two to four times a month.
Art club: assist with art and craft projects.
One-on-one visitors to read, do puzzles, crafts.
Recreation Assistant: help with programs such as crafts, gardening, Bingo, outings, discussion groups; and attend community outings, special events.
Entertainers and Guest Lecturers: to provide entertainment or educational programs to residents.
